Holistic Dentistry

Holistic dentistry is a comprehensive philosophy that considers the ways in which your oral health influences the health of the rest of your body. It is clear that your nutrition, sleep, and breathing habits can influence the mouth and the rest of the body. Rather than just treating your symptoms, our aim is to inform you about the cause of the problem, and offer treatment. Our holistic model of care integrates traditional dental, biological, and natural treatment and education to promote total body wellness. Did you know that the proper development and maintaince of the oral cavity has been shown to lessen one's likelihood of diseases like high blood pressure, allergies, and sleep apnea?

Mercury Free Dentistry

Your smile may have mercury fillings, called amalgams, which can corrode, crack, and stain teeth a dark black over time. Some patients also worry about the health impact of the mercury in their fillings. In 1988, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) stated that materials used in dental amalgams, and particles from dental amalgams, are toxic waste material. Our office offers patients a safe environment (IAOMT standards) for the removal and replacement of old amalgams, with natural-looking, white fillings.

Dental Implants

While we practice minimally invasive dentistry, the practice of conserving health tooth structure, there are times when teeth fail. Dental implants are artificial teeth roots that are surgically placed and used to anchor crowns or dentures. Today, the vast majority of dental implants are titanium alloys. However, over time, metal implants can show an unesthetic grey shadow through the gums, can generate piezo-electric current with other metals, and are thermally conductive. Additionally, there are concerns of metal sensitivity in certain individuals. To address the concerns over titanium implants, we also place zirconia implants. Zirconia is very strong, biocompatible, and has been used in the dental industry for years.

Holistic Dentistry: Improving Lives Through Dental Care

Our office wants to help you prevent dental and associated health problems. Every patient who visits our office receives care tailored to their needs, which may include an airway/sleep evaluation, microscopic bacterial risk assessment, or even allergy/reactivity testing that guides our care plan. Allergy/reactivity testing is particularly important for individuals who suffer from fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, lyme disease, diabetes, and heart disease, and many other inflammatory based diseases.

When you smile, and your mouth and surrounding tissues are healthy, you may find a greater sense of self-confidence, better chewing, and improved overall health. Our team is commited to helping every member of your family enjoy the benefits a healthy mouth can have on the rest of the body. The presence of disease, infection, or even the dental materials used can affect the entire body. We strive to stay current on the most innovative and minimally invasive dentistry.

Staying Current with Techniques and Technology

More than ever technology and integrative medicine aids in the execution of top-notch dental care. Whether diagnosing, planning, or redesigning the smile and associated tissues to be straighter, healthier, and more functional, we are always searching for the latest advancements and most natural resources available. We incorporate lasers, ozone therapy, safe-mercury removal, digital impressions, metal-free implants, and platelet rich fibrin collection to optimize treatment outcomes for each individual. We feel it is important to provide the patient with all the information and tailored options, so they can make an informed decision about what is right for them.

“The doctor of the future will give no medicine
but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and the cause and prevention of disease.” - Thomas Edison
